Welcome to the Riviera website!
It has been quite sometime since the last update of our website…Since then a lot of meaningful changes has taken place.
The Board of Directors has been reconstituted as follows: Jose Ma G. Solquillo – Chairman/Director; Danilo E. Pizarro – Vice Chairman/Director; Eriberto C. Varona – President/Director; Jose Ma. P. Fernandez – Director; Celso G. Castro – Director; Francisco M. Paredes – Director; Rodolfo G. Rabaja – Director; and, Sikini C. Labastilla – Director. Four other officers provide assistance to the Board as of this writing: Corporate Secretary (Rolando G. Borja); Compliance Officer (Rolando G. Borja); Legal Counsel (Francisco M. Paredes); and, Treasurer (Ricardo D. De La Paz).
Implementing the policies and plans laid down by the Board, the President is essentially responsible for directly controlling and supervising three divisions. Currently in charge of these three divisions are: Ricky De La Paz (Club Operations); Philip Ruiz (Golf Course Maintenance); and, Miles Barleta (Finance & Administration). The Club Operations Division is responsible for Golf Operations, Membership Affairs, Purchasing Management, Food & Beverage, Marketing & Sales, and Computer Systems Services. The GCM Division is responsible for Golf Course & Ground Maintenance, Facilities Management and Security Services. The Finance & Admin Division is in charge of Accounting Services, Cost Control & Inventory Management, Treasury Management, Corporate Affairs, and Human Resources Management.
In light of the current global financial crisis, some officers have been designated in concurrent capacity, e.g., Compliance Officer (Corporate Secretary), Legal Counsel (Director/Chair, Legal Committee), and Treasurer (Division Head for Club Operations). In addition, our organizational structure has been effectively streamlined. There are two primary reasons for this: first, to optimize returns on our operations as we adopt at the same time a “DO MORE WITH LESS” work philosophy; and, second, to pinpoint responsibility and accountability in meeting our Club’s goals as enunciated in the 5-year Business Plan which was recently approved by your Board of Directors.
In this Business Plan, our aim is to secure, over the next five years, a favorable, stable financial base for a sustainable turn-around so that at the onset of FY 2014, at the latest, our Club’s operating income will be more than sufficient to overcome depreciation and other fixed costs. This, I believe, can be done. Yes, we can with the continued, active support of each and every member of our Club!
Even as we focus on this long-term objective, we remain committed to sustaining the interest and goodwill of our members, mindful always of our shared vision for THE RIVIERA to remain as a “world- class golf club and a preferred venue of prestigious events.” In this regard, we are truly delighted to inform the general membership that our very own Langer Course was adjudged by Asian Golf Monthly as the Best Golf Course (Philippines) for the year 2008. This is the third time that our Langer Course has been similarly recognized by Asian Golf Monthly: the first, in 2006 (Best); and the second, in 2007 (Runner Up).
On behalf of the management and staff, and of the Board of Directors, I wish to take this opportunity in extending our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all fellow members who have kindly lent us their valued assistance and cooperation towards enhancing the prestige, growth and competitiveness of our Club. Indeed, we do salute you for all your continued support
Congratulations to everyone, as we hope that you continue to enjoy our facilities!
ERIBERTO C. VARONA
President
